WebCD Globe Microsoft« Internet Explorer 3.0 (Windows 95) Setup Tips

If many of your users will need to install the Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 browser (Windows 95, no browser installed, or not version 2.x or above of Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator), you may want to include some tips on how to answer Microsoft Internet Explorer installation questions.

After the user follows the Standard Package Viewing Instructions to insert the WebCD in their CD-ROM drive, and run the setup.exe command to begin viewing the WebCD, they will need to respond to the dialogs described below. Feel free to copy the steps below to include in a custom readme.txt file (see Creating a WebCD readme.txt ).

1 The WebCD License Agreement dialog is displayed. You must accept the WebCD License Agreement before viewing the WebCD contents.
2 Next, WebCD Viewer displays a components dialog ("Setup your system to view the WebCD contents"). If no browser is installed, Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 (Windows 95) will be installed.

Note If you have Netscape Navigator 2.x or above, or Microsoft Internet Explorer 2.x or above, WebCD Viewer will not install Microsoft Internet Explorer by default; however you have the option to install it if you wish.

3 Next, the Microsoft Internet Explorer License Agreement dialog is displayed. You must agree to MicrosoftÆs license agreement in order to install Internet Explorer.
4 Once all files are copied, Microsoft Internet Explorer setup indicates that you must restart you computer for the new settings to take effect. Click Yes to restart the computer now.
5 Once the computer has rebooted, you must re-run the setup.exe command from the CD-ROM in order to view the WebCD.
6 Install additional helper applications as desired.
